Attention. C. David Main, Project Leader, Cawthra Woods Management Plan

Dear Mr. Main:

Thank you for the opportunity to review and comment on the management plan and Implementation plans for Cawthra Woods. The forestry concerns are thoroughly discussed and the implementation plans cover the issues for the care and protection of the woodlot.

Monitoring is a major issue as it is timely to bring all current status information to the table in order to plot the work,,if any, for the years to come It will be interesting to see if the selective thinning of 1994 did any damage or benefit The inventory curve indicates the appropriate reverse 'J' curve that was desired at the time of marking.

The hydrology/drainage research is critical at this stage to better understand the long term effects on the complete ecology of the woodlot.

I am in complete agreement to begin appropriate control of the invasive exotics in the woodlot immediately.

Easement plantings should continue to ensure adequate regeneration of that area. If possible local native white pine should be added as available.

It is my hope that the public will support this plan and become the community partner that is needed now to help carryout some of the objectives.

The forestry section here supports the plan and should you have any questions I can be of help with please feel free to contact myself.
