Monarch Butterfly
Rescue - 2013
For the past few years I
have had a small area of my backyard set aside for a stand of Milkweed in hopes
of Monarch Butterflies would use it for breeding.
Keeping up the project of planting Butterfly Bushes in others yards to help make Mississauga a
Butterfly friendly City.
Last year's Grand Total = 105

Grand Total from 2006 is at least =

First Monarch Butterfly of the
season.
This years was about getting the community more involved and that
was a great success.
This year was about creating a better butterfly garden and again a great
success.
Lots of great pictures, video and special features - so bug me to post more,
show you can, I need to know.
Under Construction - very much so.

More effort is being given to getting the public to come out and help set the
butterflies free
- to get everyone involved.

What a great shot & all by chance. For years try to get a good shot of a Monarch Butterfly flying & here we go - the first one of the year and female as well. She laid a few eggs while posing for the camera, below. |

The first time that Tagging of Monarch Butterfly's have been
raised & released
at the one and only Monarch Butterfly Way Station in Mississauga & in fact the
Region of Peel.
A sad time as the City of Mississauga is trying to shut us down by forcing us
from our home.
This is what is done in Mississauga to those, like Donald Barber, who dare to
question & care about Mother Nature.
No wonder we are so far behind the rest of the world with important
environmental issues.

The first time that a Tagged of Monarch Butterfly (or any animal), have been
raised & released at the Port Credit Library as a part of a scientific
study.
By chance, a herd of kids were there, & they took a break from face painting and
standing in small pans of coloured Jello.
Shame had only the one to let go.
